German born artist, Paulina, describes singing as her second language.
Moving to Ipswich when she was two, the 16-year-old Ipswich Girls Grammar student describes herself as ‘passionate, loving and eager’.
As an only child born into a musical family, Paulina said her natural talent was influenced by her parents.
“Both my parents are from Germany, and are hardworking people who I truly look up to,” she said.
“My dad was often played the piano and guitar around me, which exposed me to music from a very young age, and both of my parents’ different music tastes led to a diversity in my style.
“My mum has been my best friend since birth and I genuinely wouldn’t be as happy, healthy and living the life I am, without her.
“She is my biggest inspiration.
“I truly admire the way she puts me and everyone else in front of her own needs.”
Paulina says it was her mum who helped her move into the music industry.
“She was the one to nudge me into the direction of song writing and has been helping me grow as an artist ever since.
“Whether that’s been helping me find gigs, creating a website, distributing my music and overall, all of the important things you need to have to do to thrive as an artist.”
When asked when she first discovered her voice, she said she couldn’t remember a specific time.
Yet in August, 2019, Paulina recalls perhaps the first time she knew music could change her life after attending an ‘I Heart Song Writing Club’ workshop at Studio 188.
“My eyes were opened to the idea of being able to share my passion for life.
“I’ve always seen listening to music as an outlet.
“And then when I realised I could be that outlet for someone, it truly changed my view on what I was doing with my music completely and made me feel as though that was my purpose in life.”
Despite quitting singing lessons when she was nine-years-old as it “wasn’t the style for her” and trying to decide whether to pursue veterinary science, marine biology or to become a policewoman, Paulina is now adamant that music will be her career.
“I genuinely can’t see myself doing anything else other than music in the future.”
Paulina only ventured into her profession with intent in August 2019 and now she has chosen her first name as her artist name and was "thrilled" to be asked to be the supporting act for Jack Botts at Studio 188 on Sunday November 15, this year.
“It was the most amazing and surreal experience.
“I would have never thought that I would have opened for someone who has been on my Spotify playlist for the longest time and someone I genuinely look up to.”
Paulina’s life consists of school, working part-time in two cafes and practising music for upcoming gigs. But it’s writing new music with producers Brett Briggs and Daniel Lorkin from Writers Block in Ipswich that Paulina loves the most.
“I cherish the time I write new music.”
And now, with a third single on the way, Paulina looks forward to its release date, December 5, to showcase a different side of her.
“I am super excited to release this single, as it is completely different to the style and sound of my first single, ‘Insane’ and shows a different side of me, which many haven’t heard before.”
As she looks forward to her forthcoming release, Paulina can’t help but look to the future.
“My ultimate goal is to be able to live off the money I make through my music and travel around the world with it.
“It is something I seriously love doing.”
