The Bushrangers are back and on a winner

IN the Covid-19 ravaged summer of 2020-2021, the Fassifern failed to field a men’s team for the first time in more than 100 years.

But captained by Grant Harvey, the Fassifern Bushrangers returned with a win over Marburg - Mt Crosby Thunder at the Tivoli Sporting Complex in Third Division on Saturday.

Fassifern lost the toss and Cole Grimsey (2-21) and then Tibebe Alchin (2-23) took the new ball on a beautifully prepared wicket.

But it was 57-year-old medium pacer Graham Andrews who eventually returned the best figures for the day, 3-13.

Off-spinner Mitchell Neuendorf also bowled well, 2-11.

Marburg was dominated by the Fassifern attack, all out for 119, but grimly held on for 39 overs (K. McDonald, 47).

The Bushrangers then demolished Marburg in 14.3 overs.

Opener and wicketkeeper Reece Wenzel fell at 17 to an unfortunate run out, but his replacement Mitchell Neuendorf stepped up the punishment (50 no out) with the other opener Lachlan Andrews (42 not out).

If you'd like to play, please phone Grant Harvey or turn up to training, at 5.30pm at Coronation Park, Boonah on Wednesdays.
