FAMILIES from Amberley Outside School Hours Care recently donated toys and other goodies to the Domestic Violence Action Centre for their annual toy run to bring Christmas gifts and joy to families.
Ree from Amberley OSHC said the families recently became involved in a fundraiser with DVAC when the children returned to school at the start of the term and asked about Christmas celebrations that year.
“The conversation developed to what we did for Christmas before Covid and what we do now,” she said.
“The children were able to talk about experiences they had knowledge of, some of these were not positive so we then talked about what we can do to fix these situations.
“Discovering that children involved in domestic violence cases may not have any presents for Christmas inspired us to get involved and donate for their toy run.”
Numerous toys, craft and stationary donations from the Centre’s families were then counted and passed onto the DVAC with lots of smiles from the children as they felt the gift of giving.
