Former manager of Ivory’s Rock Jan McGregor laughs when she admits she’s supposed to be semi-retired.
After being involved with the region’s largest entertaining space since 1991, Ms McGregor has spent the last three years solely battling the Inland Rail on behalf of Ivory’s Rock.
With the deadline for community submissions for the Environmental Impact Statement less than a month away, Ms McGregor said the reality of the Inland Rail doing ‘irreversible damage’ to Ivory’s Rock was drawing near.
“Ivory’s Rock is unique, there’s nothing like it that we know of anywhere in Australia and perhaps beyond,” she said.
“The beauty of it is, it’s over 600 hectares and it’s had over 25 years of care and attention by heaps of volunteers and others to restore the habitat.
“It’s evolved over time just to be a really beautiful environment.”
