Kalbar could soon become a road trip pit stop with an application to build a roughly $1.4 million, 12-unit motel up for council approval.
The local property developer behind the project said the motel was “just what the town needed”.
“Since Covid, the Scenic Rim is really getting busier and busier,” Joe Bozzi said.
“I frequent the town a fair bit and there’s been a big influx of people, but there’s a real shortage of accommodation.”
“You go into the pub and there’s always someone looking for rooms. So when I saw this [property] come up, I thought it would be a good opportunity for the town.”
Mr Bozzi said the motel would allow visitors to stay the night and explore the next day, rather than do day trips to Kalbar.
At around 8.5 metres high, the building would change the feel of the drive into the country town.
The site of the proposed build is 107 George Street, the first property on
