Book week and Grandparents Day celebrations at Haigslea School

STUDENTS from Haigslea State School enjoyed a double celebration for Grandparents Day and Book Week with their families and the school community.

Principal Emily Robinson said it was wonderful to be able to have the students with their families back on the school grounds learning with the children.

“Grandparents Day is a chance for grandchildren, children and the community to thank grandparents for their love and support,” she said.

“Celebrated annually in Queensland on the last Sunday in October, Grandparents Day recognises the significant contribution that grandparents make to their families and communities.”

As well as Grandparents Day students also dressed up in their favourite book week characters parading around the school to show off their creative costumes.

“Children's Book Week is an annual celebration where schools spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators,” she said.

“We celebrated by engaging in rotational literacy activities throughout the day.”
