THE Rosewood Amateur Fishing Club commenced 2022 with nine new members (seven senior and two junior) joining the club.
All were welcomed with a barbeque breakfast at the February meeting.
The competition kicked off for the year with a weekend freshwater trip to Leslie Dam on February 12 and 13 February.
Seventeen senior and four junior members competed.
There was an abundance of Yellowbelly caught by young and old, most measuring 27 to 29cm.
Not quite the 30cm required legal size limit, so the fish were quickly released.
Daren Henderson won the trip with three Yellowbelly weighing 3.22kg.
Second place went to Judy Litfin with two Yellowbelly weighing 2.22kg.
Greg Buhmann claimed third place with two Yellowbelly, at 2.02 kg.
The heaviest vermin catch was a huge Carp weighing 3.88kg caught by Russell Driem.
The Junior competition was won by Holly Bazzo with two Yellowbelly.
While sister Arielle came second with two slightly smaller Yellowbelly.
It was certainly a treat to see Leslie Dam at 100 percent capacity for the first time in many years.
