Good sport Lemsy joins the Ipswich Tribune and Fassifern Guardian

David Lems, a stalwart of the Ipswich sporting community, is delighted to join the Ipswich Tribune and Fassifern Guardian team.

David, popularly known as Lemsy, is a familiar face across the regional sporting codes having previously worked at the Queensland Times for 37 years.

The former sports editor covered the 2000 Sydney Olympics and four Commonwealth Games among his many achievements, collecting more than a dozen major awards for his consistent and compelling coverage.

His long-term focus has always been on local sport and the dedicated people that play such a valuable role in the community.

While eager to continue covering the Ipswich stories that matter at the Tribune, Lemsy will also expand his horizon to the Scenic Rim in the coming weeks.

Having served in a number of newspaper and digital roles at the Queensland Times over more than three decades, David took a much needed break late last year.

In 2022, he is refreshed and ready to hit the sporting scene with renewed energy.

“I'm thrilled to be working alongside a dedicated team with a strong newspaper history and sharp focus on valuable local news that is being lost in other media organisations,” he said.

“During my satisfying time at the Queensland Times, I provided extensive community coverage assisted by some of the best sporting officials, competitors and volunteers in Australia.

“I hope to continue that commitment and specialised role at the tradition-rich Guardian paper and expanding Tribune print product and website.”

Don’t miss the weekly sport pages which will feature a comprehensive, one-stop-shop for all readers who love their favourite sports in the region.
