Mass frog deaths in South East Queensland

As Winter nears its end, residents in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria have noticed shrivelled, discoloured and dead frogs. 

It’s impossible to know how many frogs have died in the past month, but experts say the figures would be ‘in the hundreds’. 

Queensland Frog Society Committee member, Ed Meyer said the mass death was unusual, but not unprecedented. 

“In the last three to four weeks we’ve had a large number of reports of green tree frogs being found sick, dead or in a moribund state,” he said.
