Archaeologists say a culturally significant site south of Boonah is being desecrated by rock climbers who continue to trespass onto the state-owned land in defiance of warnings from the government.
The volcanic ring dyke known as Minto Crag, or Winpullin to its Ugarapul traditional owners, is a string of rocky outcrops which jut out spectacularly from private land in Croftby.
With one exception: an area called Wave Rock, which is classed as Unallocated State Land.
Over the last 16 months the rock face has become pockmarked with bolts as a group of climbers have sought to develop the rock into a climbing mecca.
According to an archaeological report by Everick Heritage seen by the Fassifern Guardian, this activity is an offence under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act.
