An equine complex sized to host many codes of horse sports is on the drawing board for the Boonah Showgrounds.
The concept of a South East Queensland hub for equestrian activities came to the fore during the development of a Master Plan for the showgrounds.
“When we identified the need for a first-class multi-purpose facility we set up a sub-committee to start the planning process,” said Boonah Show President, John Brent.
“It’s led by Phil Gutzke from the Show Society and includes representatives from the Rodeo Association, the Clydesdale Spectacular, the Fassifern Horse and Pony Club, the Vaulting group and the Working Horse club.”
The aim is to centre the complex on the existing rodeo arena at the showgrounds.
“It will of course be much larger than the existing arena and incorporate covered areas for crowd seating and particular events,” John said.
