Theft from Salvos
Boonah Police are continuing to receive complaints relating to people stealing from the Salvation Army donations at the Park Street building.
At around 7.00pm on Wednesday (September 18) offenders entered the storage shed and ransacked the donated items and took several items and left.
The storage shed was left with items strewn across it. Anyone caught stealing from the charity donations will be charged with stealing. Donated items are left for resale to continue the charity work of local Salvation Army volunteers.
Copper cable theft
Kalbar Police are investigating after another Telstra cable pit was targeted by thieves and a quantity of copper cable was cut and removed from the pit.
The cable, estimated to be worth $5,000, was removed from the pit at the intersection of the Cunningham Highway and Kengoon Road, Silverdale sometime between September 13 and 16. Anyone who may have seen a person or vehicle in the area around this time is requested to contact Crimestoppers.
Café break in
Boonah Police are investigating the burglary at Revival Café in High Street, Boonah in the early hours of Wednesday, September 11.
Initial reports indicated a male cut the gate into the side verandah area where he was then able to force his way into the café. The offender is not believed to have stolen anything from the store at this time.
If anyone saw a male on foot in High Street Boonah around this time they are requested to contact Boonah Police.
Butter factory break in
Boonah Police are investigating the break and enter of the old butter factory located behind Oppy’s Fruit Barn at around 8.30pm on Friday (September 20).
Five offenders were captured on camera forcing entry into the building, damaging the locked door. They left without taking anything from inside the building.
Anyone who may have been travelling along Yeates Avenue around this time and saw a group of people in or around the old butter factory are requested to contact Boonah Police.
Vehicle theft
Police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle from Betts Street, Boonah at around 10.45pm on Friday (September 20). The vehicle, a Ford Ranger Utility, has not been located at this time.
Police were later called to Churchbank Weir Road, Peak Crossing and on arrival located a vehicle on fire. The vehicle was a Ford Ranger Utility. Investigations are underway to determine if the vehicle was the one stolen from Betts Street.
Ipswich Criminal Investigation branch are leading the investigation.
Boonah traffic crash
Boonah Police were called to a single vehicle traffic crash in High Street, Boonah at around 10.30am on Monday, September 16.
Initial investigations indicated the driver of a Holden Commodore was reversing the vehicle from the driveway at the Boonah Tavern. The vehicle reversed across the road and collided with the Dover and Sons building. The male driver was uninjured. Circumstances surrounding the cause of the crash are still under investigation.
Court
A Frenches Creek man, 64, was issued a Notice to Appear in court for unlicenced driving after he was stopped by police while driving a vehicle on the Boonah Rathdowney Road, Dugandan on Thursday, September 19. Checks revealed the driver was court disqualified from driving. He was also issued fines for driving an unregistered and uninsured car with false plates attached. He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court in October.
A Charlwood man, 18, was issued a Notice to Appear in court for unlicenced driving after he was stopped by police when driving a vehicle on Charlwood Road, Charlwood. Checks revealed his licence was currently demerit point suspended. He is due to appear in court in October.
A Tamborine Mountain man, 56, was charged with Driving with a relevant drug in his system after he was stopped while driving a vehicle on Coronation Drive, Boonah on Sunday night (September 22). He was required to undergo a drug test after being stopped by officers from Ipswich Highway Patrol, which returned a positive result. He will be required to appear in court.
