FINAL UPDATE: The Boonah Rathdowney Road between Cotswolds Road and Todd's Bridge has reopened.

UPDATE: Rathdowney Road is expected to be closed for several hours between Cotswolds Road and Todd's Bridge following a two vehicle accident.

Boonah Police Sen Const Andrew Conway has asked that motorists avoid that area outside Maroon if possible but a diversion is in place using Cotswolds Road and Foresthome Road.

"While we initially expected to open the road sooner, the cause of the accident is now going to be investigated by the Police Forensic Crash Unit."

The Rescue 500 helicopter landed on the road and has now airlifted the injured motorcycle rider out to hospital.

It's understood that the rider has suffered injuries but is not thought to be critical.

Sen Const Conway reported that the accident involved a car and a motorcycle.
