1 min read

UPDATE: Roads are now open to traffic but Energex and traffic control officers are on scene as the power pole is made safe.

A FULLY loaded semi-trailer has collided with a power pole at a major intersection in Beaudesert.

Tamborine resident Jeff McConnell was having a coffee while waiting for a business meeting when the accident happened on the corner of William Street and Brisbane Street around 7am (Thursday).

"[Truck driver] has come from Kerry Road to turn down on the Mount Lindsay [Highway] but has obviously taken the corner a bit sharp and collected that pole," he said

"The lights are out and that section of the road was closed to traffic.

"There are emergency services there and they're doing traffic control, fire and ambulance are here too."

He said Energex were 'on their way' to shut down power and make the scene safe for the driver to be removed from his vehicle.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said around 7.30am the driver was able to get out of the truck's cab but roads were closed as the scene was being secured.

Motorists were advised to take alternative routes.
