Leaving Bombers coach thanks club

AS Fassifern Bombers officials look to secure senior rugby league team coaches for next season, one club supporter has decided to stand aside.

Brenden Riley has ended four years of service at the Harrisville-based club, having played a leading role working between the A Grade and Reserve Grade sides.

English born and bred Riley thanked everyone at the club who made him welcome and assisted him.

Unsure what his coaching future holds, Riley said his Bombers highlight was sharing in the 2023 Reserve Grade grand final victory 10-6 against powerful club Brothers.

“Turning the club around to premiers in three years was a massive achievement,” he said.

The fifth-placed Bombers Reserve Grade side reached the second week of this year’s Rugby League Ipswich finals before losing 34-16 to Redbank Plains.

Riley said he was grateful for the Bombers support staff including manager Ben Range, and trainers Shane Gillett and Jason Miles.

“Just people in the background that don’t get the credit that they deserve,” he said.

“I appreciate them more than anything.

“The people that run the club and everything that way, I wish them all the success.

“It’s time for me to step away for a little bit.”
