Dancing dinosaurs a first for show

IF HORSES and cattle are not ‘your thing’ perhaps animals from prehistoric times will get you excited for the Kalbar show.
In a first, Dinkum Dinosaurs are going to be entertaining and educating visitors to this year’s show.
The shows are created with children in mind and Ranger Jim takes audiences on a journey back in time to the days when these creatures roamed the earth.
Dinkum Dinosaurs brings 15 different dinosaurs, moving displays, real fossils, a baby dinosaur zoo and ones you can sit on and be photographed.
“We do a comedy ventriloquist show with dinosaurs, then there is a four-metre-long dancing dinosaur named Dillo and a baby dinosaur zoo,” Ranger Jim said.
“The animals in the little zoo are all animatronic and children love seeing them move.
“We also have a fossil collection and these are all genuine fossils.
“People can see dinosaur teeth and eggshell – which is something very rare – as well as lots of other fossilised items.”
Ranger Jim is the alter ego of James Sleight who runs the entertainment business alongside his partner Ally Fernandes, aka Ranger Ally.
The couple spend eight months of the year travelling the country putting on their dinosaur shows.
“Ranger Jim is the chap everyone and anyone can go to and talk about dinosaurs,” Mr Sleight said.
“He has been a dinosaur nut since he was very young and spent many hours reading up on all the different types of animals that lived on Earth millions of years ago.”
Ranger Jim and Ranger Ally’s Dinkum Dinosaurs shows will be held in multiple sessions throughout Kalbar Show.
