New dairy owners win gold

SCENIC Rim dairy 4Real Milk have won gold at the Royal Queensland Awards (RQA) in the Full Fat Unhomogenised Milk category.
The awards are held at the Brisbane Showgrounds each year and showcase the nation’s best produce and producers.
There are six competition sections, cheese and dairy; ice ceam, gelato and sorbet; branded beef; branded lamb; as well as the Royal Queensland Wine Awards and the Royal Queensland Beer Awards.
The 4Real Milk entry was in the Beef, Lamb and Dairy category.
In a Facebook post 4Real Milk management thanked the ‘entire team’ for their contribution.
“The hard work and dedication of everyone working on the farm, in the factory and to our drivers getting the milk out to all of our customers,” the post read.
“And of course, the wonderful ladies who show up every day and produce this wonderful milk for us to be able to bottle for you.”
4Real Milk is owned by second cousins and childhood friends Brad Teese and Doug Wyatt.
The duo took ownership of the Tamrookum dairy mid last year.
The milk processing plant is run using high tech equipment and robotic machinery that milks the cows.
4Real Milk Dairy produces minimally processed, fresh, unhomogenised milk with a creamy top.
Doug said they were committed to producing milk ‘just like the milk Australians grew up with’.
Their determination to the produce premium unhomogenised milk has paid off with this award coming barely a year after taking ownership of the dairy.
RQA judges tasted their way through 441 ice creams, gelatos, sorbets, cheese and dairy products before deciding on category winners.
Entries in the Cheese and Dairy Awards were up almost 20 percent on last years.Products are judged on their flavour, aroma, body, texture and presentation.
Exhibitors also received an in depth peer to peer report for their exhibits, providing them with direct comparisons to other products within the industry.
Some of the award winning produce will be showcased at the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) in August.
