HARRISVILLE is a town with a wide open main street with businesses on both sides and an intrinsically friendly atmosphere.
With Cunningham’s Gap in the distance and Harrisville’s pioneering history on proud display in its museum, the town may be small but its champions are mighty.
“We have a village atmosphere and there are many opportunities for residents to be involved in,” said long time resident, Eris Rashford.
“We would love people to move here and join our service clubs like the Lions or CWA, Women’s Shed, and sporting groups like junior football.”
And the move to the wide open spaces has really begun in Harrisville.
“Land is selling well and young families are moving into town
“As the size of the population grows, the government will invest in more infrastructure.”
While the town is usually quieter during the week, there’s a booming trade on weekends as day trippers come to explore.
“My thoughts are, if you move here, please don’t just use it as somewhere to hang your hat at night,” she said.
“If you want to get the best from your community then be a part of it.“I don’t mean via Facebook or some other remote medium ... join a group or organisation.
“Through your involvement you will meet people, make friends and carry on the legacy of those who have come before you and you will help make Harrisville a great place for those who come after.”
