DECK yourself out in charity shop finery and attend a high tea to help local lady Barbara Draheim raise money for The Fassifern Suicide Prevention Network (FSPN).
Ms Draheim said the cause of suicide prevention was close to her heart as she’d experienced depression and bouts of extreme sadness.
“I wanted people to know that there is hope in life and people care, things turn around and they need to hang in there and talk to organisations able to lift them out of depression,” she said.
The event is named Rose and Thorn of Roadvale.
“Attendees are asked to visit their local charity shop and choose the outfit they think has a ‘winning look’,” she said.
“There will be a fashion parade at the event where the winning getup will be judged.
“People only need to be in the parade if they want to, sitting in the audience looking on will be good fun too.
“There will be a male winner [the thorn] and a female winner [the rose].”
Lucky draw prizes and multi draw raffles will see some attendees leave with food, makeup, fashion and pamper vouchers or even a scenic flight.
Tickets cost $27.50 a person and include a high tea of delicious baked goods with bottomless tea and coffee.
Guest speakers are Dr Chris Summers and FSPN chairman Ken Meldrum.
The event takes place at Roadvale School of Arts on May 28 between 10am and 2pm.
Limited tickets are available, get yours by phoning Barbara Draheim on 0409 997 728.
