Scenic Rim flooding causes multiple road closures
1 min read

FALLS of 100mm to 120mm in the 24 hours to early Wednesday morning are consistent across the Fassifern.

The Boonah Beaudesert Road near the Coulson turnoff is closed due deep flowing water across the bridge.

Chinaman’s Bridge at the flat along the end of Church Street remains above the water but the road leading to it on the Boonah side is flooded.

Washpool Gully on the Boonah Fassifern Road near the intersection with the Cunningham Highway is not flooding the road as levels there have dropped markedly.

There is also deep water flowing across the road near the Kalbar Showgrounds in George Street.

Rosevale Road at Rosevale is also closed due to floodwaters.

The 100mm or more falls are reported from the headwaters of the Teviot and all along the catchment so water in the brook is expected to continue to build during the day.

Above Moogerah Dam around the Reynolds Creek catchment and above falls of 100mm or more are also being reported so the ‘water gauge’ in the dam is also expected to rise steadily for the next day to two. The dam’s capacity at 6.16am was sitting at 59.1 percent.

Maroon Dam is over 100 percent and water releases are occurring and Wyaralong Dam is expected to continue to flow over the spillway.

More rain is predicted with thunderstorms this afternoon so Boonah Police are reminding all motorists: “If it’s flooded forget it!”.
