School leaders step up to make a difference in 2023

THE 2023 Boonah State High School leaders were officially welcomed into their roles at an investiture ceremony, last week.
It was also the occasion when the 2022 highest academic achievers were presented to the assembly – Vincent Allchin as the School Dux and Keely Frieberg as the Subject Dux (Mathematical Methods, Modern History and Specialist Mathematics).
During the ceremony, students selected to play roles of leadership were called to the stage and presented with their badges of office.
The students weren’t the only ones when it came to a new experience, it was the first at Boonah High for Principal Dan Marrone too.
Mr Marrone addressed the audience and spoke of a future that lay open and filled with possibilities; and how students could write their own
history.
“Leadership means stepping into a new frontier,” he said.
“What are the possibilities in front of you today, what will you leave behind when your schooling is done?
“In the words of John F Kennedy, ‘if not us then who? if not now, then when?”
He also congratulated leaders assigned to their new positions within the school and warned the Year 12s that their last year at school would go by ‘very quickly’.
“Congratulations on getting this far, congratulations to the leadership committee, our captains and student leaders,” he said.
“I know that this year is going to be a great one and we look to you for inspiration moving forward.”
