THREE competitors from the newly-formed Scenic Rim Trampoline Gymnastics Club have enjoyed medal success at their first competition together.
Club owner and coach Mal Stuart was joined on the podium by Scarlett Stumer and Evelyn Vagg at the recent South Queensland Interclub Trampoline Challenge at Acacia Ridge in Brisbane.
Mal (pictured) finished first in the Level 5 trampoline section and came third in the Level 4 double mini trampoline event.
In her Level 2 events, Scarlett (below) won the tumbling competition and finished second in the trampoline and all round final.
Evelyn (below) came third in the under-8 Level 1 double mini trampoline and all round events.
Mal established the club at the Aratula Community Sports Centre in July last year, having decades of experience competing and coaching in country Victoria and Queensland.
He moved to the Scenic Rim in 2020 after 30 years coaching trampolining at PCYC clubs in Brisbane.
“I moved here to Aratula just to get into the country again,” he said.
“I thought there’s got to be some talent out here in the country so I decided rather than commuting backwards and forwards to Brisbane, I’ll start my own club here.”
Mal was delighted with the club’s first competitive experience together, against some large clubs and featuring hundreds of athletes across 11 levels on three apparatus.
