Lake Wyaralong and the under-construction Ipswich stadium have been named as venues for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

While specific details are yet to be confirmed, Lake Wyaralong is set to hold all rowing events as well as the sprint canoe race.

Usually, an Olympic games will host 14 rowing events.

Men and women’s single sculls, men and women’s double sculls, men and women’s quadruple sculls, men and women’s lightweight double sculls, eight, coxless pair and coxless four.

There are also four rowing events in the Paralympics, men and women’s single scull, double sculls and coxed four.

In the Olympic bid report that helped win over the IOC executive board, organisers described the Wyaralong dam as showcasing the spectacular Scenic Rim hinterland.

In the 2019 SEQ Council of Mayors Feasibility Study for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic games, Ipswich’s stadium was highlighted as the planned venue for the preliminary football.

It was also flagged as a legacy opportunity for weightlifting.

The stadium has since been indicated as the host of the modern pentathlon, which comprises five different events: fencing, 200 meter freestyle swimming, show jumping, and a final combined event of pistol shooting and a 3200 meter cross-country run.
