A $1.7 million rebuild of a dangerous skate park at Brassall is yet to begin almost a year after Ipswich City Council was handed funding for the project.

Ipswich City Council took designs for the new skate park at Sutton Park to the public in August after the State Government awarded the council $1.53 million funding for the project in July last year.

The project was to be completed this financial year, however the council has been unable to secure builders to take on the job.

Instead of taking the project on as part of its own works schedule the council has sat on the project and is now looking to complete it next year.
