HE’S the Australian icon and music legend that has entertained crowds for over five decades with his powerful voice and captivating performances, earning him a place in the hearts of music fans across the country and around the world. Now, his untold story is being shared with audiences in the new movie release, John Farnham: Finding The Voice.

As the highly anticipated big screen biopic draws near, we can’t help but reflect on the legacy of one of Australia’s greatest musical icons. Farnham captured the hearts of millions with his soaring vocals and unforgettable performances and his music has become a part of Australia’s cultural fabric.

The influence Farnham had on the Australian music scene is immeasurable, however it’s not always been smooth sailing for the singer.

Finding The Voice is more than just a movie about a musician. It’s a story about perseverance, dedication and the power of passion, giving audiences an opportunity to delve deeper into the life and career of this legendary artist. The movie promises to be a revealing and intimate look at Farnham’s journey, from his early days as a teen heartthrob to his later years as a seasoned performer.

Although Farnham was born in the UK, Aussies have claimed him as one of our own after he moved to Australia as a child and began his music career at the age of 18. His early success came with the release of the hit single Sadie (The Cleaning Lady) in 1967 which topped the Australian music charts. He continued to produce hit after hit, with songs like Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head and One, cementing his place in Australian music history.

But in 1986, his career really took off with the release of his album Whispering Jack, spawning iconic hit single You’re The Voice. The album earned Farnham numerous accolades, including a record-breaking eight ARIA Awards. To date, Whispering Jack continues to hold first place as the highest-selling album in Australia by an Australian artist with over 1.68 million copies sold.

We salute John Farnham for his incredible achievements and contribution to the music industry, and have no doubt that Finding the Voice will be a fitting tribute and musical celebration for one of Australia’s most beloved artists and the inspiring legacy he has created.

Limelight Cinemas Ipswich will host Advance Screenings this Mother’s Day (May 14) of John Farnham: Finding The Voice from 2.45pm in The Lounge or from 6.30pm in the traditional cinema.
