Beaudesert bull rider leads Origin challenge
2 min read

BEAUDESERT bull rider Jared Borghero will lead Queensland’s Origin challenge against NSW in the upcoming Professional Bull Riders (PBR) series.

Borghero is coach of the Maroon team striving to maintain its dominance of past years.

Although the riders may be the ones climbing into the chutes, behind every great bull rider is a coach who has lived it, breathed it and knows what it takes to win.

Borghero, a fourth generation bull rider from a strong sporting family, will be the strategist guiding the battle-hardened riders.

He is overseeing the Queensland team competing in this year’s Origin series in Newcastle (May 3), Brisbane (June 7) and Sydney (July 5).

“It’s one of the top three proudest moments of my life to be appointed coach,” Borghero said.

“Anyone who knows me understands what Origin means to me and this great state we live in.

“We support each other, we fight for each other, and I have no doubt these boys will make Queensland proud again.”

Queensland has won every Origin series held in 2019 and from 2021 until last year.

“The fiercest rivalry in Australian sport isn’t just played out on the footy field - it rages in the rodeo arena too,” PBR general manager Glen Young said.

“In the PBR Monster Energy Origin Series, the boys go head-to-head in the toughest test of skill, strength, and sheer grit - professional bull riding.

“With nothing but eight seconds standing between glory and the dust, these boys ride for more than just personal victory — they ride for state pride.”

Borghero has spent his life in the dirt— first as a bull rider then as one of the toughest Protection Athletes in the sport.

Aged 15, he rode his first bull.

By 2016-17, he was at the top of his game, winning the legendary Mount Isa Rodeo bull ride, securing the APRA Pro Tour title and earning Protection Athlete of the Year - a season he’ll never forget.

It was in 2015 that he found his true calling, becoming a PBR Protection Athlete.

Standing between a fallen rider and a raging bull takes a special kind of courage.

The Queensland coach has built a legacy of fearlessness and instinct.

Jared’s brothers Ky and Jay were in line for Queensland selection.
