Young hiker found on Mt Barney

Updated: MISSING hiker Nathanael Green has been found safe and well in a ravine in rugged terrain on Mount Barney, Scenic Rim.

Nathanael is understood to have undertaken a solo hike Thursday morning.

He phoned triple zero at 1pm that day to say he was lost and low on water.

Despite multiple search and rescue groups, members of the public and police crews scouring the area, he remained lost until around 12pm Saturday.

Area Controller for SES South Eastern Region Danni Bull said the man was found after calling out to members of the public.

"He was in a ravine and could see helicopters searching," she said.

"He shouted out when he heard people near by, they let the search and rescue teams know and a helicopter winched him to safety.

"He is being checked out but at this stage appears to be well."

POLICE and SES crews are searching for a solo hiker missing since Thursday after going for a hike up Mount Barney in the Scenic Rim.

Nathanael Green is understood to be 19 and was last heard from when he called triple zero at 1pm Thursday saying he was lost and low on water.

His family have posted on Facebook asking anyone hiking the area to keep an eye out for him.

Nathanael is described as being lean built, 5'11 and with black curly hair and green eyes.

He was wearing a Blue Easts rugby shirt with yellow piping, dark grey athletic shorts and black joggers.

On Saturday morning Area Controller for SES South Eastern Region Danni Bull said SES crews and police were still actively searching for the missing hiker.
